Alvin Carl Plantinga (nascido em 1932) é um filósofoanalítico estados-unidense, anteriormente o John A. O'Brien Professor of Philosophy na Universidade de Notre Dame. Ele é conhecido por seu trabalho em filosofia da religião, epistemologia, metafísica e apologética cristã. Plantinga é cristão e conhecido por aplicar os métodos da filosofia analítica para defender as visões cristãs ortodoxas. Notavelmente, ele tem alegado que algumas pessoas podem saber que Deus existe como uma crença propriamente básica, requerindo nenhum argumento, de forma similar a como pessoas usualmente alegam que sabem que outras mentes existem. Ele também alega que não existe nenhuma inconsistência lógica entre a existência do mal e a existência de um Deus todo-poderoso, onisciente e totalmente bom.[1]
